Volunteer

Come as a volunteer

Volunteering is the most direct way into life at Østre Dal Gård. You work alongside the people who carry the place: in the gardens and the greenhouse, with the hens, on the old houses, around the sauna and the fire.

The work is practical and shared. Some of it is skilled, most of it is willing hands, and all of it is done side by side, the way this place has always been kept alive.

You do not need to be an expert in anything. Care for the place and the people, and a willingness to show up, matter more than any particular skill.

Building by hand

Closing the loop

New timber going up

What we expect, and what you can expect

Every stay is shaped in dialogue. Tell us in the application when you can come, for how long, and what kind of work you enjoy, and we will find the shape that serves both you and the place.

What we expect: that you take part in the work with care, that you treat the place, the animals and the people around you as a guest who intends to leave things better, and that you honour the agreements we make together.

What you can expect: meaningful work with visible results, people to do it with, simple accommodation at the farm when your stay includes living here, and the experience of belonging to a place that is coming back to life.
